Events 2017
Welcome to the events calendar 2017. We are offering a packed programme with some new things on offer. Please check to see if you need to book before turning up to any event. Thank you!

January February  March April
May June July  August
September  October November December
Saturday November 18th 2017 Come and enjoy a warming curry and a glass of wine plus an informative talk by a guest speaker. You can also look for shooting stars associated with the Leonids meteor shower as well as the tail end of the Taurids meteor shower. While we don't use the telescopes to spot meteors, if the weather does permit you will get the chance to look at some other interesting celestial objects through the large telescopes. The evening aims to be both informal and informative. If the weather is unsuitable on themed evenings, the talk will go ahead regardless and a comprehensive tour of the telescopes will replace viewing. Numbers are limited to 80, so book early to secure your place. BOOKING ESSENTIAL Please phone the Centre on 01323 832731 to secure your places.

On the 21st October The Centre will re-open at 6.30pm for the evening. As well as the indoor hands-on interactive exhibits you can also take the opportunity to look through some of the country's largest historic telescopes at some fascinating night sky objects including the Andromeda galaxy and the Ring nebula (weather permitting). This evening also coincides with the end of the peak of the Orionids meteor shower so watch out for some fast moving meteor as they streak across the sky. Viewing is weather permitting. However, there will be a cloudy night contingency planetarium show as well as being able to look at the telescopes and listen to knowledgeable operators. If the weather is unsuitable and there is nobody in the Centre before 8pm then the evening will be cancelled.
